Lance Corporal Sunday Awolola, the soldier who allegedly raped a three hundred level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko has been arraigned before an Akure magistrate court.
His trail in court followed his dismissal by the army authorities last week
The suspect was said to have had canal knowledge of the student on the 31st of July 2029 at at Ikare Akoko military check pont .
The offence according to the charge sheet is punishable under section 358 of the criminal code cap 37 volume 1 of the Ondo state of Nigeria
Chief Magistrate Mayowa Olanipekun adjourned the case till Friday 16th of August to give counsel to the suspect time to study the charge pressed against the soldier
He said the case was filed this morning, and there is the need to give the suspect and his counsel time to study the case.
Different interest groups were present in court to monitor the case
