The lecturers want the Acting Rector and Chairman of the institution’s governing council to be relieved of the appointments, over their inability
to account for the 68 million naira.

Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the hitherto peace being enjoined at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, in Ondo State, is being threatened over allegation of misappropriation of funds levelled by lecturers against the management of the institution.

The bone of contention here is the allegation of misappropriation of 68 million naira by the Acting Rector and the Chairman of the institution’s
governing council.

The lecturers, under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, accused the duo of missapropating the money meant for purchase of
second hand vehicles and payment of accumulated salary arrears of workers.

At a news conference in Akure, the state capital, the Chairman of the institution’s branch of ASUP, Rafiu Ijawoye wants the duo to be sacked by
the state government. But the management came out to debunk the allegations, describing them as wicked and baseless.

Spokesman of the institution , Samuel Ojo exonerated both the Acting Rector and Chairman of the governing council from any wrong doing, but ASUP Chairman wants government to treat the allegation with all seriousness
