The rising level of unemployment in Nigeria is gradually becoming an epidemic as thousands of graduates are being churned out of tertiary institutions yearly.

Many of these graduates are craving for white collar jobs, shunning skills acquisition.

The need for young persons and Nigerians to embrace different skills was demonstrated at an event organised by the lawmaker representing Akure south Constituency 1, Toluwani Borokini.

A total of 70 persons were trained in different vocations and it is time for them to receive their certificates after the training exercise.

The lawmaker urged the youths to make themselves available for useful ventures.

He said there is need for the them to channel their energy towards skills acquisition instead of waiting endlessly for white collar jobs.

Other speakers stressed the need for government at all levels to give special attention to vocational training.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed delight over the training.

The beneficiaries were trained in different skills ranging from Barbing, Hair Styling, Wig Making, Pedicure/Manicure, Barbing, Make Up, Tailoring and Leather Works.
