Ondo State Government has trained more than one hundred women in the phase one sensitisation on home gardening initiative and urban techniques.
The programme, initiated by the State Ministry of Women Affairs, in conjunction with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, is designed to teach families to be self-sufficient.
Women converged at the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs for the all important training, designed to address hunger in different homes.
Over a hundred women from various parts of the state are taking part in the program.
They received home-based training in tomato and yam production from agricultural specialists.
Lola Fagbemi, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, advised the women to take advantage of the chance aimed to combat hunger.
Olamide Falana, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, echoed her sentiments, emphasising the need of women taking an active role in agriculture.
