Thirty students of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in Ondo State, will benefit from a special scholarship provided by a businessman, Segun Olugboyegun from next academic session.

The Owo-born businessman made the promise at the institution’s 9th convocation, when he was decorated with Doctor of Business administration, honoris causa.

Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the 9th convocation ceremony of the University coincided with the 20th anniversary of establishment of the university.
It was a day of speeches and honour for students of the institution.

An industrialist, Segun Olugboyegun was honoured by the university. He was conferred with Doctor of Business Administration Honoris Causa, due to his business acumen.

After his decoration, Olugboyegun said he received the award because of the university’s performance and rating. He promised to give scholarship to 30 students of the university from next session.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu noted that the funding of education should not be left in the hand of government alone.

Some dignitaries at the event, including the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye said the honour was well deserved

A total of 3,804 students graduated at the 9th convocation ceremony of the University.
