Ogun organises seminar for chemical handlers, others for effective control

The Ogun state government has organised a seminar for chemical handlers and other stakeholders in the environment sector in order to reduce hazards caused by chemicals.

Governor Dapo Abiodun who was represented by the secretary to the state government to Tokunbo Talabi said the state government understands the high level of usage, storage, handling and transportation of chemicals in the states being the industrial capital of the country hence the need to equip people with necessary knowledge.

He noted that people in the state must have the knowledge of protective gadgets they are to put on to prevent danger and to know how to dispose chemical waste.

The governor stated that chemicals were the most critical agent of Nigeria’s Industrial revolution due to its importance to the industrial sector, hence the need for every user and handler to imbibe necessary knowledge on its proper management, calling on stakeholders to contribute their quota in enhancing a livable, safe and healthy environment for the people of the state.

The commissioner for environments in the state, Ola Oresanya said OChemical gun state will continue to live up to expectations and ensure that the environment is safe for people to live and do their businesses.
