Almost three years after the Ogoni clean-up exercise was flagged off, some leaders in Rivers state have expressed worry over the delay in implementation of UNEP’s report on the region.
The Ogoni Elders Forum says nothing much has been achieved, the land and waters remain just as contaminated as when the UNEP report was released far back 2011 if not worse. This is despite millions of dollars already pumped into the project.
The group also called for investigation into the award of contracts for the cleanup process.
