Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has been crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan.
After the earlier report of the Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Waheed Popoola has placed the sacred Akoko leaves on the head of former Governor, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, shared on his official X handle an image showing the new King wearing the sacred crown as the Olubadan of Ibadan.
Onanuga wrote, “Here comes His Royal Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland”
The crowning follows the top gear preparation for the 44th coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland; the ancient city comes alive with activities ahead of the celebrations.

TVC previously reported that the Olubadan of Ibadan land coronation ceremony reached its pinnacle as the Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Waheed Popoola, placed the sacred Akoko leaves on the head of former Governor Oba Rashidi Ladoja. Chief Popoola, representing the Labosinde Compound in the Oja’ba area of Ibadan South East LGA, performed the rite to a thunderous ovation from the massive crowd in attendance.
The process is in preparation for his moving to the Ose Meji House, where he would be crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, shortly after leaving Labosinde Compound.
