The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has paraded a syndicate of forgery experts which operates within Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
They were arrested for alleged specialisation in forgery of health related certificates, rubber stamps and online documentations to defraud banks.
NSCDC State Commandant, Abdullahi Ibrahim while parading the eight suspects and exhibits seized from them in Maiduguri, Borno State capital on Tuesday said the syndicate were apprehended in Maiduguri following nine months of intensive surveillance and trail.
The forged documents looked very real, making it very difficult for unsuspecting customers to doubt their originality.
They ranged from WAEC higher school certificates, NECO Higher School certificates to university Degrees
The commandant of the Borno state command explained the hectic procedure they under took to arrest the suspects considering prevailing insecurity in the region
Media practitioners were shown the various gadgets used in perpetrating the forgeries.
Some of the Suspects confessed to providing fake and cheap certificates to their customers
The arrest of the syndicate will curtail fake certificate holders employed in various international NGOs alike in the region
It is also a wake up call to those engaged in duping unsuspecting members of the public to desist from this evil act most especially as it affects health related institutions in Borno state.
