Image result for Nigeria completes largest population-based HIV/AIDS surveyNigeria has completed the worlds largest population based HIV/AIDS survey. This was made known during the course of the 5th National council on AIDS in Ibadan.

Nigerians living with the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus seized the opportunity to demand an all inclusive healthcare system that provides
unfettered access to treatment, care and support.

Correspondent Olutayo Famous Cole  reports that Nigeria now has the world’s largest population-based HIV/AIDS survey. This feat was achieved within 9 months.

Experts said this development gives ample opportunity for a more accurate baseline and foundation to adequately plan the national response
for maximum impact.

Stakeholders here at the National council on AIDS pegged the national prevalence rate at 1.4% which indicates a slide in the epidemic.

Wife of the Governor of Oyo State said government would continue to help people living with the virus.

The Oyo state coordinator for Persons living with HIV demands an all inclusive plan for Nigerians living with the disease. She wants government to be more proactive in this regard.

Organisers of the event said they are at the threshold of launching a private sector driven HIV/AIDS trust fund that would provide a platform for
a more robust engagement with private businesses to promote domestic resource mobilisation from the private sector.
