NGO Supports Vulnerable Groups In Ogun Communities

As the current level of economic hardship bites harder in the country and the negative effects of poverty on families, a non-governmental organization, SOS Children’s Villages has supported 12 vulnerable groups in Ogun communities with 120 million Naira grants.

In order to ensure that every child grows up in a stable and loving environment through family strengthening and alternative care initiatives and proper financial support for their education and development, the SOS Children’s Villages has empowered 12 Village savings and loans Associations in five communities in Ogun East Senatorial district.

The foundation said the grant of 120 million naira was provided to support beneficiaries who are members of established Village Savings and Loan Associations to improve their businesses and impact the lives of their children and the entire family positively.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs in Ogun State who was represented at the event said the State Government appreciates the gesture of the foundation, adding that the grant also stands as an investment in the economy, education, health, and well-being of children, their livelihoods, and the overall stability of the communities.

The traditional ruler of Owu Ijebu while appreciating the foundation for empowering his People said the grant will stimulate the local economy and turn the lives of the beneficiaries around.

Each group consist of 20 – 25 women who came together to run small scale businesses and the 12 village Associations have been supported with N10 million per group.
