The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has addressed recent speculation regarding potential amendments to its Statutes, firmly stating that no such changes are scheduled to be made during its upcoming Annual General Assembly on 27 September 2025.

Contrary to circulating reports, the Federation clarified that any claims suggesting imminent amendments at the Assembly are inaccurate and misleading.

In preparation for the Assembly, the NFF will host a workshop on 26 September 2025.

This session will bring together representatives from NFF member bodies, alongside officials from FIFA and CAF, to engage in preliminary discussions around possible reforms to the Federation’s Statutes.

The focus of the forum is to explore governance improvements aligned with international best practices as recommended by FIFA and CAF.

The NFF stressed that this remains an early-stage consultative process.

Any move toward formal amendment will require broad consensus among its members. Only after agreement on a clear direction will a dedicated General Assembly be convened to formally consider and vote on proposed statutory changes.

Reaffirming its dedication to transparency and collaboration, the NFF pledged to continue working closely with its General Assembly Members, FIFA, and CAF throughout the process.

The Federation emphasized that all steps will be taken in line with due process and global governance standards.

The ultimate goal, the NFF stated, is to build a stronger governance framework that promotes stability, inclusivity, and wider stakeholder participation across all levels of Nigerian football.
