The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has presented relief materials, including grains to Ondo State Government, for distribution to victims of flood disaster in the state.
This followed President Muhammadu Buhari’s order that the agency should start distributing grains from strategic reserves to affected states in the country.

Many states across Nigeria have been ravaged by persistent flooding.
Thousands have been displaced in states like Delta, Bayelsa, Kogi, Anambra, Katsina, Nasarawa, Rivers and Jigawa in recent weeks.
A report by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, shows that more than 300 people have been killed by devastating floods in 2022.
Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, has had its fair share of the disaster in the riverine communities which has rendered many residents homeless.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, presented relief materials to the state government in order to alleviate the victims’ suffering.
The Director-General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, said while handing over the materials to government officials that the President has approved the immediate release of 12,000 metric tons of grains from the National Strategic Reserve Stock for distribution to all states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Represented by the Director of Special Duties, Onimode Bandele, the NEMA DG said the materials were brought to the State, to cushion the effects of floods on residents.
Representative of the state government said the gesture will serve as temporary relief for the victims.
