The Nigerian Navy have embarked on a route march in the metropolis of Abuja.
The exercise is meant to keep them ready for combat.
Rear Admiral Saidu Garba, Chief of Policy and Plans, stated that the navy is prepared to assist INEC in the conduct of the 2023 elections where necessary.
He also pledged to end crude oil theft and illegal bunkering as well as drastically reduce the number of illegal refineries in the country before the end of this administration.
Vice-Admiral Awwal Gambo, the Chief of Naval Staff, made the commitment in Abuja during the Navy’s fourth quarter route march, which took place throughout all of the force’s formations in the nation.

The route march exercise commenced from the Naval Unit, Asokoro, Abuja, through the AYA juncture back to the naval base.
Vice-Admiral Gambo, represented by Rear-Admiral Suleiman Garba, Chief of Policy and Plans (Navy), emphasised the importance of exercise to the military, as the Navy is tasked with assisting in the upcoming general election, which is to keep the peace and sanity of society and ensure all eligible voters exercise their franchise.
Vice-Admiral Gambo reaffirmed the Navy’s determination to maintain sanity, keep the nation’s economy strong, and put an end to all forms of criminality in the maritime environment.
He assured the country that the Navy would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that peace and development prevail in all troubled areas across the country.
