Nasarawa Governor Inaugurates Rice Mill, Distributes Equipment

Nasarawa State Commissions Rice Processing Mill, Distributes Agro Allied Equipment

The Nasarawa State Governor has flagged off the distribution of Agro processing equipment to farmers and has inaugurated a rice processing mill in Ashangwa in Lafia Local Government.

The Project which was executed by the Value Chain Development Programme of the federal government and International Fund for Agricultural Development, is targeted at boosting the capacity of smallholder farmers.

It’s another milestone achievement for the value chain development Programme in Nasarawa State.

The programme was introduced in the state by the Federal Government and IFAD, to boost rice and cassava production, processing and marketing, in to eradicate poverty among smallholder farmers.

It has since established 11 Solar-Powered Boreholes; 4 Rice Processing Mills, 1 Cassava Processing Center and 2 Rice farms.

Today, it is recording another feat with the construction of a rice processing Centre in Ashangwa and procurement of Agro processing equipment.

The Nasarawa State Governor is here to inaugurate the project and flag off distribution of the equipment.

72 farmers across the state are billed to benefit from this equipment.

The governor pledges the commitment of his administration to wooing investors for the socio-economic development of the state.

This Agro equipment and facility will give a boost to farmers in the state.

The Programme is currently implemented in 5 local councils: Lafia, Doma, Wamba, Nasarawa and
Karu.

Nsarawa State is home to many Agriculture and Agro Allied establishment with many of the indigenes also involved in Agriculture and Agriculture related business and the decision by the State Government will also help in propelling things further especially in enhancing the Agriculture Value Chain in the State.

The State being quite close to the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja will also benefit with an enhanced Value Chain meaning more food production and more money from processed food and agro Allied industries benefitting from the more affluent neighbourhood of the Federal Capita Territory through enhanced Sales.
