MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a 50 per cent reduction in the price of its DStv decoder, dropping it from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000, as part of a new promotional drive aimed at boosting subscriptions and rewarding customer loyalty.

The offer, unveiled under the ‘We Got You’ campaign, also includes a free package upgrade for customers who pay in full for their current subscription plan between June 16 and July 31, 2025.

Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, said in a statement on Tuesday that the initiative is designed to offer greater value to subscribers amid Nigeria’s economic challenges.

“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day. DStv offers something for everyone, not just football fans,” Ugbe said.

The company said it is repositioning DStv as a platform for daily value across genres such as movies, drama, kids’ shows, and news, not just sports.

The move follows a sharp loss of 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025 and comes on the heels of three separate subscription price increases over the past year.

MultiChoice says the discount and free upgrade are a response to the financial strain on many Nigerian households and an effort to rebuild consumer confidence.
