The Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has condemned in strong terms the tragic attack on Government Girls School, Maga, in Kebbi State, which led to the abduction of several schoolgirls and the killing of the Vice Principal.

Describing the incident as “devastating and deeply distressing,” Dr. Alausa extended his sympathies to the families of the victims, the school community, and the people of Kebbi State. He stressed that no child should be subjected to such trauma, and no educator should lose their life while serving the nation.

The Minister labelled the assault a “callous and unacceptable attack” on Nigeria’s children, teachers, and collective future. He confirmed that the Federal Ministry of Education is collaborating closely with security agencies, intelligence units, and the Kebbi State Government to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students and to bring the attackers to justice.

Dr. Alausa reiterated the Ministry’s firm commitment to enhancing school safety nationwide, particularly in high-risk communities.

“This tragedy deepens our determination,” he said. “Every child has the right to learn in a secure environment, and every teacher deserves protection. We will continue working until all schools in Nigeria are truly safe spaces.”
