Image result for Masari signs law restricting movement of motorcyclesKatsina state governor has signed into law a bill restricting the movement of motorcycles between 7pm to 6 am in a bid to further improve the security situation in the state.

The ban is to take effect from 20th of January 2020 .

Security agencies have come to the conclusion that most activities by kidnappers and bandits are carried out in the dead of the night with motorcycles.

Katsina state has been at the receiving end of such criminal activities like banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling, a situation that compelled the government to enter into dialogue with the criminal groups.

But government has shifted its stand and is now prepared to take stricter measures against those criminal groups that have decided not to
be part of the peace process.

The law enforcement agencies want locals in affected communities to be more open to community policing so that the strategy can work in their
areas.

Attacks by bandits are becoming more frequent and there is now need for all, citizens and the government, to close ranks to end these crimes once
and for all.
