French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron has stepped up his attacks against opponent, far-right leader Marine Le Pen.
At a rally on Wednesday, he called on French citizens to vote for him to defend democracy.
During the rally, Macron accused Le Pen of arousing “disorder and hatred” and of lying by pretending to be one of the people while in reality “she is a heir”.
Earlier in the day, Le Pen publicly trumped Macron by showing up unannounced at a northern French tumble drier factory while he was speaking with union representatives on the other side of town.
