The Lagos state government is set to engage about one thousand youth in agriculture, in order to reduce unemployment in the state.
In an interview with TVC news, the special adviser to the governor on agriculture says agriculture has undoubtedly become the most important sub-sector in the Nigerian economy, next to petroleum, so there is no better time to re introduce mechanised farming than now.
He noted that the scheme will also help in the area of food security.
