Muslim faithful in Inisa, Odo-otin local government have reconvened for Juma’at prayers three years after the mosque was shut following leadership tussle.
The chief imam of Oyan, Yunus Akomolafe led a delegation of concerned Islamic Scholars to observe the Juma’at and special prayers for the community.
In 2021, the Osun State Government shut the Inisa Central mosque following a report of loss of lives over a disagreement on who would become the new Chief Imam of the community.
The mosque was later reopened after normalcy was restored, but the crisis was far from over, as no worshipers could pray in the mosque due to uncertainty about who would lead the prayer.
Despite the fact that the case of who becomes the Chief Imam has been in court for some time, a delegation of concerned Islamic clerics spearheaded the reopening of the mosque for Ju’muat prayers on Friday, three years after it was closed.
The Islamic leaders appreciated all religious stakeholders in the community for supporting the Peace move and for allowing the reopening of the worship centre.
They allayed the fear of people of possible violence while assuring worshippers and residents of the town that Islamic ethos will be employed in resolving the misunderstanding.
Notable scholars including, Ilorin base preacher, Sheikh Hamad labeeb, Secretary of the Association of Imam and Khatib in Osun State, Sheikh Abdullahi Olohunlomerue among others were in attendance.
