The lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Gbolahan Yishawu has distributed personal computers to youths in his community.
This is part of the programmes he initiated to empower youths in the area with digital skills, towards reducing unemployment rate.
According to reports by the National Bureau of Statistics, the youth unemployment rate in Nigeria is expected to reach 57 percent in 2023.
As worrisome as this may sound, a lawmaker in the Lagos Parliament seems optimistic about the numbers coming down.
Gbolahan Yisahw has introduced a youth employability support Initiative for people of Etiosa constituency 2 of the State Assembly which affords them the opportunity to acquire skills in digital marketing.
This will guarantee job placements for the best graduating students. Most of them received personal computers to Aid their learning While others got certain amount of money for business support.
The lawmaker is confident that initiatives like this can open more job opportunities for Nigerians especially the youths.
Some the beneficiaries expressed their gladness with the programme and promised to make use of the opportunity given to them.
Yishawu, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, said that his programmes are tailored towards infusing knowledge and uplifting the livelihood of the residents of Eti-Osa State Constituency 2.
