The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has formally decorated 35 senior officers recently promoted in a bid to reinforce the state’s security framework.
The ceremony, held at the Lagos Police Command headquarters, saw 30 Superintendents of Police (SPs) elevated to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), while five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) were promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP).
In a statement on Wednesday, released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, Jimoh hailed the promotions as a testament to the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to professionalism, motivation, and rewarding excellence within the Nigeria Police Force.
“The exercise underscores the fact that hard work, dedication, and discipline are recognised and duly rewarded; it should serve as further motivation for improved performance,” the Commissioner said.

Speaking on behalf of the officers and men of the Lagos State Command, Jimoh expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for entrusting the newly promoted officers with greater responsibilities.
He described the promotion exercise as a “morale booster” that would enhance operational efficiency and service delivery across the command.
The CP further highlighted that the new ranks come with heightened expectations from both the Force and the public. He urged the officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, saying:
“Demonstrate greater diligence, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of your duties. A higher rank comes with increased responsibility and accountability,” CP Jimoh added.
Concluding the event, the commissioner congratulated the officers’ families and expressed confidence that the promotions would strengthen security in Lagos.
“I am confident that you will continue to contribute meaningfully to the safety, security, and protection of lives and property in Lagos State,” he affirmed.
