Kwara pledges more support for Agri-Business to aid Economy

KWARA PLEDGES MORE SUPPORT FOR AGRI BUSINESS TO AID ECONOMY

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq days his administration will continue to invest in agriculture and agribusiness to fight hunger and boost the economy of the state.

The Governor stated this in Ijara-Isin, Isin local government area, at the Farm Kwara Harvest and Cash-out 2022 – an agricultural scheme designed by the state government to fight hunger and reduce poverty through support for smallholder farmers.

The “Farm Kwara” project kicked off in Adanla, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state and it has now been extended to two other local government areas.

Participants of the programme are here in Ijara Isin to display some of their harvested and processed produce.

Idayat Oloyede held her mandatory National Youth Service in Kwara state and she’s today one of the testimonies of “Farm Kwara” project.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is happy about the output of the farmers who are predominantly females.

Represented by his commissioner for Agriculture, Abdullateef Alakawa, the Governor also says his government has been creating an enabling environment for partnership with the private sector

This is in order to provide adequate support for different categories of farmers to thrive.

Highlight of the occasion p the presentation of a dummy cheque of N1,035,000 to nine female farmers as profits of their sold produce while certificates of recognition are also presented to the outstanding farmers.

 

Kwara is one of the States in the Country where the vast majority of its rural dwellers are involved in the Agric Business and the State government has worked towards creating a Value Chain through the Shonga farms initiative and Others before now.

Towns like Ijara Isin are also reputed Cocoa growing and production spots with the State having been a part of the Cocoa rebirth programme initiated by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

The State also grows Rice in places like Lafiagi, Shonga and Patigi while crops like Cashew are in abundance in almost all parts of the State.
