Correspondent Owolabi Adenusi reports that some of the suspects admitted arms were found on them but insist they were only for self protection which has become necessary due to incessant attacks by herders on their community.

They said their arrest flies in the face of justice because they were picked up from their houses.

” I sat down they came in army uniform and arrest me at home. They entered my room and found the local made guns. I bought the guns to defend myself and my people”

” I don’t do anything they came to the house and arrested me. I was asked to enter their motor which I did. They did not catch me with any weapon,” Jero Sati, a  suspect narrated.

The commanding officer in charge of Serti Battalion maintained that dangerous weapons were found on the suspects and that they would be handed over to the police as soon as they are profiled.

The task before the government and security agencies is to find lasting solutions to constant attacks on Kona communities by herders.
