The Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area, Emmanuel Onuche, over alleged gross misconduct.
The suspension was announced during plenary on Wednesday. The House directed Onuche to hand over the administration of the council to his Vice Chairman, Victoria Okolo, pending the conclusion of investigations.

Lawmakers resolved that a thorough and unbiased investigation into the allegations against the embattled chairman would not be possible while he remains in office.
During the session, the Speaker of the House, Aliyu Umar, constituted a five-member committee chaired by Bode Ogunmola to probe the allegations.
Other members of the committee include Ishaya Adeleye (Ijumu), Asema Baba Haruna (Adavi), Anthony Ujah (Olamaboro), and Bin-Ebaiya Tijani (Lokoja I), while Muhammed Bello will serve as the committee clerk.
The committee has been given one month to submit its report.
Meanwhile, three members of the Kogi State House of Assembly have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Those who switched parties are Bode Ogunmola (PDP – Ogori/Magongo), Idowu Ibikunle (ADC – Yagba East), and Sunday Daku (PDP – Bassa).
