Kebbi State Government has announced the postponement of the 2026 Yauri Rigata Cultural Festival, with a new date to be announced in due course.

The decision was disclosed during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi by the Secretary to the State Government and National Chairman of the Yauri Rigata Festival Organising Committee, Yakubu Bala Tafida.

Tafida explained that the postponement followed careful consideration of key organisational and logistical factors.

According to him, the committee found it necessary to reschedule the event to ensure better coordination and participation.

He noted that the festival had initially been slated to hold barely a week before the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, a situation that could have made it difficult for invited guests, tourists, and other stakeholders to attend both major cultural events within such a short time frame.

He expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Government for its continued support, particularly the provision of funds toward the successful hosting of the festival, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to promoting culture and tourism in the state.

Tafida also assured residents and prospective visitors that all necessary preparations would be completed ahead of the rescheduled date to ensure a well-organised and memorable festival.
