The Katsina command of the Nigeria customs service (NCS) has reacted to a recent viral video indicating that its operatives were extorting commuters along Kaita Dankama road.

A recent parade of illicit products collected by agents from September to date was clarified by the customs area comptroller.

The customs area command showcased seized items worth millions of naira to the public to serve as a deterrent to the people.

The seized goods on display comprised assorted food items, cars and second-hand clothes among others.

The successful outing was marred by a video clip that went viral allegedly implicating customs operatives in acts of extortion against traders.

Katsina customs comptroller, Dalha Wada said this episode should serve as a warning to dishonest officers that it is only a matter of time before they are exposed, despite the trade unions’ denials that they had any problems with the customs agents.
