The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Agbaje Opeyemi Olukayode as the new Chairman of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).

Olukayode, who represents the South West, was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to head the commission.

In addition to Olukayode, the Senate also confirmed four other nominees as national commissioners of the agency.

They are: Hon. Hafiz Muhammad Kawu Ibrahim, OON – Commissioner, Technical (South West), Samuel Chigizie Uwandu, CPA – Commissioner, Inspectorate (South East), Charles Efe Sylvester Emukowhate – Commissioner, Finance (South South), Bello Abubakar Malabu – Commissioner, Administration (North East).

Their confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a report submitted by the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, chaired by Senator Oluwole Fasuyi Cyril.

Presiding over the plenary, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau commended President Tinubu for the nominations, describing the appointees as highly qualified.

“We thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating these outstanding Nigerians to occupy these offices. We are confident that they would add value to this agency,” Barau said.
