No fewer than 95 princes and princesses from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House have formally signified their interest in becoming the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

The disclosure was made on Monday at the Bisi Rodipe Hall in the GRA area of Ijebu Ode during the opening of the ruling house’s nomination and screening exercise.

The Olori Ebi of the Fusengbuwa family, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, who is also known as Otunba Jadiara, announced the figure while addressing members of the family.

Several senior figures of the ruling house were present at the meeting, including the Deputy Olori Ebi, Otunba Ajidagba, and the Chairman, Chief Fassy Yusuf, alongside other leaders and delegates.

Owoyemi, a former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), explained that only aspirants who successfully pass the initial screening would have their names submitted to the Afobajes.

According to him, the Afobajes will then select one candidate as the next Awujale and forward the chosen name to the Ogun State Government for approval.

He also noted that anyone dissatisfied with the conduct of the process has the right to take their complaints to the state government through the appropriate channels.
