Journalists commend Police for relentless Drive for Excellence

JOURNALISTS COMMEND POLICE FOR RELENTLESS DRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE

The Nigerian Police Force has been commended for its self cleansing ability which has seen it regularly discipline and dismiss its officers and men whenever they are found top have been involved in misconduct.

Discussants and Guest on the Journalists Hangout on Friday evening gave this commendation while reacting to the dismissal of 7 Police officers by the Nigerian Police Force in Enugu.

The Police Officers according to the Imo State Police Command Spokesman, Micahel Abattam, were arrested for extorting a resident of the State in Umuahia, Abia State in a bank.

Babajide Kolade-Otitoju while reacting to this said the Nigerian Police Force should be commended for routinely exposing bad eggs within its ranks and dealing with them according to the law.

He added that this does not happen in any Other Security agency, he said the Police should be commended for this.

He disclosed that this routine exposition of misdeeds by its men and Officers has helped in reducing bad behaviour within its ranks.

He also said there are many Policemen and Officers who will never be involved in bad behaviour and will work hard and in good conscience day and Night, 365 days of the year.

He also pointed out the activities of dismissed officers of the Force who have been involved in robbery like the Former Special Anti Robbery Squad officer who was involved in the Offa Robbery incident of a few years ago which the Police did not try to cover up.

He called for the recruitment process for the Nigerian Police Force, Other Security Agencies and the Military to ensure that the Best of the nations’ crop are recruited to ensure that their level of operations and relations with members of the Public improves drastically.

For Her part, Ibinabo Dickson, said the Police and Other segment of the Nigerian Society when they get an officer or person who performs at a high level never really get the required recognition which will make Others to crave the same level of acceptance and recognition and perform very well at their duty posts.

She listed as an example of those who have brought honour to the country as Chioma Ajunwa who was the first Olympic Gold individual medal winner in Nigeria’s history.
