The Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu has assured Nigerians that all hands are on deck to ensure adequate security before during and after governorship election in Kogi State slated for 11th November 2023.

This was disclosed at a mock accreditation exercise by the INEC Chairman in Lokoja Kogi State.

Elections in Nigeria are always prone to violence and Kogi State is no exception .

Issues of BVAS and IREF not working during elections is also a major worry  for the Commission.

It is why the INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu had deemed it necessary to visit states where elections will be conducted before the elections.

His first visit was the electoral body’s office in Koton Karfe , then Gaduma, and Ganaja.

Ganaja has the largest polling units with thirteen thousand registered voters , necessitating the deployment of a minimum of eight BVAS machines .

These visits by the Commission s Chairman are to avoid any mistakes that may affect the credibility of the elections.

The Commission disclosed that ; it has deployed twenty five thousand ad-hoc staff for the elections .

During this visit the INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu directed that the polling units must be opened at 8:30am on Election Day.

He also urged electoral officers to properly keep all non sensitive materials on ground for easy movements on Election Day.

Accreditation officers confirm that all BVAS deployed are ready for the 11th November 2023 election in Kogi state .

The Chairman insists that the accreditation and transmission of election results would be electronic as provided by law.

He also encouraged registered individuals on the IREV portal to check for the results as the process is transparent.
