Pregnant women and children under the age of five in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, will soon have access to qualitative health care. This expectation follows the foundation laying ceremony of a Mother and Child Hospital in the area that will cost more than two hundred million naira.
Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State is an oil producing community, with most of the inhabitants are predominantly fish farmers and they lack basic social amenities like good roads, schools and health facilities.
But pregnant women who live in many communities of will soon have one less thing to worry about as the Amalgamation of Ilaje Ugbo Coastal Communities Association, begins the construction of a hospital that will cater for mothers and children in the area.
The hope is that maternal and infant mortality rate in the area will significantly be reduced.
Government representative at the event said the state is ready to partner any organisation in bringing dividends of democracy closer to the people.
Others who spoke at the event, including representative of an oil firm, said the project will meet the health challenges of the people.
