The girls, kidnapped before dawn on Monday, November 17, 2025, were freed through what the Governor described as non-kinetic efforts led by the military in collaboration with security agencies.

He assured the public that no ransom was paid, emphasising that the rescue resulted from strategic operations, intelligence coordination.

The Governor commended the military, police, DSS, and local intelligence volunteers for their swift response and professionalism.

He also appreciated religious leaders, community members, and Nigerians across the country for their prayers and solidarity throughout the ordeal.

Governor Idris further thanked President Bola Tinubu, the Vice President, the Minister of State for Defence, the Inspector General of police, the Governor and other dignitaries who visited and called to show support, noting that the Federal Government remained proactive and fully committed during the crisis.

The rescued girls will be reunited with their families after the official handover ceremony.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security partnerships to prevent future attacks on schools and communities across Kebbi State.

TVC previously reported that the Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed the exact number of abducted schoolgirls still held by bandits, cautioning journalists and media organisations against the spread of inaccurate information capable of heightening public anxiety.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Halima Bande, gave the clarification in an interview in Zuru on Tuesday, amid conflicting figures circulating in the public space since the attack on Government Girls’ College, Sakaba.
