The man in the eye of the storm, Tonye Isenah, has dismissed the report of his impeachment insisting he remains the Speaker of the Bayelsa House of Assembly.
The Odi-born politician who, over the weekend, got a rousing welcome and show of solidarity in Kaiama and Odi, has thanked people of the state for their prayers and support.
He further stated that the House has gone on recess.
But the plenary on Monday witnessed gunshots at the Bayelsa House of Assembly by some youths that stormed the assembly complex in Yenagoa.
Isenah, however, adjourned the session indefinitely for the house to proceed on recess.
The members who sat back reportedly resumed sitting and allegedly impeached the speaker in absentia and without the mace.
This follows a motion of matters of urgent Public Importance moved by the lawmaker representing Sagbama Constituency Two, leading to the nomination of Obolo Bubou of Southern Ijaw Constituency Two, and supported by Naomi Ogoni of Ogbia Constituency Three.
