He made this known in Abuja at the unveiling of findings on the largest global survey on HIV and AIDS.

Tvc’s Kemi Balogun reports that  Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with an estimated population of 192 million. It also accounts for the second highest HIV and Aids burden in the world after South Africa.

About 3.2 million persons are currently living with the virus in the country. The Nigeria aids indicator and impact survey is the largest single one ever done in the world.

Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari wants stakeholders to effectively use the survey effectively in order to improve the health care system.

Experts at the formal release of the result are keen on ensuring that the survey’s findings are used for effective and efficient planning for the
control of the disease in Nigeria.

The United states supported the survey with 70 million dollars.

The Global Fund for the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria also contributed 20 million in support of the project.
