The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ward Four of Ughelli South Council Area of Delta State, Paul Onomuakpokpo, has been killed by suspected gunmen.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, who confirmed the incident, says it occurred along Ogoni road, near the palace of the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom.
The assailants had fired sporadically into the air and ensured that the victim died before leaving the scene.
His body has been deposited at the mortuary and an investigation is ongoing to determine the reason for his assassination.
