A coalition of Nigerian ethnic nationalities has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently intervene in the face-off between the governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello and the PDP senatorial candidate for Kogi central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

This they say will save the State from an impending crisis that could impact the conduct of the 2023 general elections in the State.

In recent times there have been a back and forth of allegations between the governor of Kogi and Natasha Akpoti.

The Kogi State Government had called on the leadership of security agencies to invite Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan, for questioning over alleged terrorism-related activities.

In a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja, the State Government alleged that Mrs Uduaghan had exhibited enough to be invited over terrorism-related activities.

They say the PDP and organisations linked to her had been advocating for the release of an arrested terrorist called Safiu.

Reacting to the allegations, Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan said she was ready to surrender to the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for questioning but Governor Bello must be invited as well.

She termed allegations against her as a conspiracy by the Bello administration, to link her with terrorism-related activities in the state

She insists Safiu had been working with the governor all the while but he was infuriated that Safiu dumped APC for PDP.

This feud between governor Bello and Mrs Uduaghan has become a source of concern to the Nigerian ethnic nationalities council.

They are seeking the president’s intervention to help resolve the issues to ensure nothing hampers the peace in the state.

The Group has called on the National Security adviser to investigate the terrorism allegations against both parties.
