The Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammadu Badaru has assured that the issues relating to the half payment of salaries to lecturers under the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will be legally addressed by all State Governors.

He indicated this at the official inauguration of the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANs in Abuja.

Governor Badaru said his Government would continue to support students and join in efforts to stabilize the education sector through the National Association of Nigerian students

He stated that President Muhammadu Buhari was aware of the sufferings of the students caused by the ASUU strike and would not allow such a situation to happen again.

The newly inaugurated President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Usman Barambu, called on the Federal Government to address all issues in the revised agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities in order to forestall future industrial actions that would keep students out of campus and away from their studies.

Those who have borne the brunt of the frequent crises, are those Students not privileged enough to seek Other alternatives outside the public university system.

Since those in this category form the majority, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, is demanding a better Education deal for the Nigerian masses.

A Factional President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Farouk Umar had stepped down for Mr Barambu as the only recognized president of the Students body.

The action by Farouk Umar was due to the intervention of National leaders like the presidential Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This is to ensure the Association presents a strong front as Nigerian students return to class.

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, had gone on strike for over 8 months over issues of funding and direction of the public Universities System.
