Enugu state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has condemned the alleged murder of a 67-year-old woman on a farmland at Nchatancha community in Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area. He urged the people to remain calm, assured the perpetrators would soon be apprehended.
The Governor also issued a marching order to the 17 local Government areas Chairmen, who are yet to mount Vigilante security checkpoints in their respective council areas to do so, to ensure adequate security in their localities.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, condoled with the family of the deceased and charged the security agencies to commence a full scale investigation into the unfortunate incident with a view to apprehend and prosecute the culprits.
Meanwhile, Enugu State police command say it has commenced a full scale investigation into the alleged murder case, with a view to establishing what happened and bring persons involved to justice .
The command spokesperson, Ebere Amarizu disclosed that the state commissioner of Police, Suleiman Balarabe has advised the public to continue to be law abiding and ensure they avoid engaging in things that may truncate the existing peace and security in the state.
The command promised to unmask those behind the dastardly act in the shortest period of time.
The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital mortuary of the annunciation hospital for autopsy.
