Governor of Bayelsa Duoye Diri has presented a budget proposal of 385.2 billion naira to the state House of Assembly.

The governor intends to use this budget to repair damaged infrastructure, develop human capital, and complete ongoing projects around the state.

Governor Duoye Diri was ushered into the State Assembly chambers for the presentation of the 2023 appropriation bill for careful consideration and approval by the house.

The bill christened“ The Budget of sustainable growth and reconstruction” is coming in the face of the devastating flood challenge across the state.

A minute’s silence was held in honor of those lost as a result of the unprecedented disaster.

The Governor went on to reel out the significance of the budget pegged at 385.2 billion naira as well as the means for its funding.

With the ministry of works, Education, and Agriculture taking the largest share for the 2023 fiscal year, it is obvious the Bayelsa State government is out to rebuild broken infrastructure and consolidate on the achievements recorded in the 2022 fiscal year.

As the state government looks to partner with the federal government in curbing the effects of the flood disaster in the state, major political players are urged to put aside party differences and help to rebuild the state.
