General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Taskforce North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, Major General Godwin Mutkut, has tasked junior level commanders with utilizing acquired training for operational effectiveness in the field.

The GOC delivered the charge during the opening ceremony of the 8 Division Operations Planning Cadre 2023, which was organised for junior-level commanders of the Armed Forces and other paramilitary organizations at Giginya Barracks in Sokoto.

Major General Muktuk opened the five-day training program with the theme “Improving Skills and Techniques of Middle-Level Cadre Officers in Joint Operations Planning Process,” noting that the training comes at a good time given the nature of the region’s ongoing operations, which required joint planning and coordination among the security agencies.

He stated that the cadre will help to strengthen the participants’ knowledge, skills, and capability, as well as improve coordination among security agencies in addressing contemporary security concerns in the Northwest zone.

The GOC urged attendees to pay close attention to details during the lectures and to utilize what they learned in ongoing operations to help the cadre achieve its goals.

The Theater Commander further intimated that the cadre is in accordance with the goal of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, of having “a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a Joint Environment in the Defence of Nigeria.”

Participants for the Cadre were recruited from diverse armed forces formations and units, including paramilitary agencies, within the 8 Division Areas of Responsibility.
