The Federal University Dutse (FUD) has matriculated 3,964 newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session, with a strong warning against cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice and other criminal activities.

The matriculation ceremony marks the formal admission of the students into the university system, bringing to a close the 2025/2026 admission process.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, says out of 9,611 applications received, 4,558 candidates were offered admission, while 3,964 successfully completed their registration and qualified for matriculation.

He noted that the National Universities Commission admission quota for the university stands at 5,583, highlighting the competitive nature of the admission process.
Professor Abdulkarim described the matriculation as a significant milestone, explaining that the students have now entered into a formal academic agreement with the university, with clear rights, responsibilities and expectations.

He urged the students to focus on their studies and avoid social vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, fighting and stealing, stressing that the university has zero tolerance for criminal behaviour.

The Vice Chancellor also advised students to channel their grievances through proper university authorities, including the Students’ Union Government and the Dean of Students Affairs, rather than taking the law into their hands.

He encouraged them to study the students’ handbook carefully and comply with the institution’s rules, including the dress code, to avoid disciplinary action.

Professor Abdulkarim further disclosed that the university has completed the construction of its Faculty of Law complex and plans to admit its first set of law students next academic session, subject to approval by the National Universities Commission.

He added that the university has already graduated nine sets of students, many of whom are contributing positively to national development and making impact globally.

Some of the newly matriculated students expressed happiness over their admission, describing it as a major step towards achieving their academic and career goals.

The matriculation of nearly four thousand students reflects the growing role of the Federal University Dutse in expanding access to higher education and developing skilled manpower.
