In order to increase the availability of exclusive breastfeeding among women, particularly at the grassroots level, the Federal Government and stakeholders have launched a new initiative to accelerate maternal, infant, and young child nutrition..

The new strategy being launched is aimed at scaling up proven nutrition interventions.

Nigeria is one of the highest contributors of child mortality, and malnutrition has been identified as one of the major causes.

Exclusive breastfeeding is critical in combating infant malnutrition and is critical for the newborn’s and mothers’ health.

The practice of exclusive breastfeeding is still low despite associated benefits.

It is lower in rural areas, where a large proportion of women lives

This is why the Ministry of Health, CSOS, and other relevant stakeholders are collaborating to launch a new strategy aimed at reducing malnutrition among women at the grassroots level.

There is an urgent need to continue to provide an enabling environment , and technical support required for the successful implementation of project.

At the event, the representative of the minister of health, Salma Ibrahim Anas expressed optimism that the project will accelerate interventions towards mothers, infants , and young children, and will greatly impact on the nutritional narrative in the country .
