Five people were killed in a communal crisis that occurred on Friday at Gbalegi community, Idanre Local Government area of Ondo State.
A violent clash erupted as a result of a boundary dispute between the Idanre and Akure communities.
Tension had been building in the border communities for days before the conflict escalated into a deadly clash.
According to reports, those killed were taken to a local police station before being escorted to Akure Hospital’s morgue.

Funmilayo Odunlami, spokesperson for the state police command, verified the occurrence.
She stated that the command acted promptly, sending soldiers to the spot to calm the situation.
She confirmed the arrest of seven individuals in connection with the crisis.
