The Federal Fire Service (FFS) in Kano State has reported saving 55 lives and safeguarding property valued at N8.7 billion from 433 incidents over the past year.
Kazeem Sholadoye, the State Controller of the FFS, disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin.

Sholadoye noted that 19 people lost their lives in 2025 due to fire outbreaks, road accidents, and other emergencies, while property worth N263 million was destroyed by fire incidents during the year.

He added that the service responded to 21 genuine emergency calls and attended to 107 false alarms within the period under review.
The FFS chief urged residents to exercise caution when handling fire and to ensure electrical appliances are switched off before leaving their homes, emphasizing that such preventive measures can help avert unforeseen disasters.
