Fintiri presents 2023 budget of N175b to Adamawa Assembly

Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has presented a 2023 budget proposal of N175 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

Presenting the budget tagged: “budget of consolidation,” the Governor said education will receive priority in the 2023 fiscal year.

As the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections, ongoing capital projects embarked upon by Governor Umaru Fintiri will not be abandoned.

The Governor made these assurances while presenting 2023 budget proposal  before the state assembly

He also assured Adamawa residents of  prompt and timely delivery of projects, adding that all ongoing projects will be completed within the stipulated time.

The total proposal of 175.019 billion naira comprises a recurrent expenditure of 105.011 billion naira or 60 percent of the total proposal, and a capital expenditure proposal of 70.007 billion naira, or 40 percent of the total budget proposal

Education receives biggest share of the capital expenditure proposal, in order to sustain numerous ongoing projects in the sector,  and embark on new ones like establishing three special schools for the gifted.

Responding to the governor’s presentation, the Speaker, Rt Hon Aminu Iya Abbas, expressed confidence that when reviewed and approved, the 2023 budget will be diligently implemented by Fintiri’s cabinet.

He announced that in admiration of Fintiri’s implementation of free education, the Assembly had started work on a bill to make a law mandating all subsequent governors to implement free and compulsory basic education in the state.

The Governor disclosed that government in the next financial year will also be used internal loans to finance prioritised projects with high revenue yielding potentials in Adamawa.

He assured that the budget will offset backlog of Gratuity and Pensions of retired Civil Servants and ensure prompt payment of Personnel Costs and release of Overhead cost.
