Rising unemployment and the terrible impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are just two variables influencing graduates’ capacity to find work in Nigeria.

The fact that a large proportion of the population is young is much more concerning.

According to available figures, 33 percent of Nigerians are unemployed, a modest increase from 32.5 percent in 2021.

This means one in three Nigerians are actively seeking gainful employment.

Most fresh graduates lack the necessary abilities to get employed in a modern world.

The Federal Government, the UNDP Nigeria, with support from the European Union and other partners are seeking to help reduce unemployment and provide the needed skills for Nigeria’s teaming youth with the launch of this initiative.

Around 25 million graduates nationwide are still unemployed, according to a 2019 projection. The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) strives to close this opportunity gap for young, talented Nigerians by connecting them to regional opportunities that will support their success as they launch their careers.

The programme, in this first phase will match 20,000 graduates from the 36 states and the FCT with jobs in different sectors
