FG completes erosion control project in Osin Ekiti

Image result for FG completes erosion control project in Osin EkitiThe Federal Government through the Ecological Fund Office has completed and handed over an erosion control project in a community in Ekiti State. President Muhammadu Buhari was represented by Senator Ajayi Boroffice to perform the launch of the project.

TVC News Correspondent, Akin Ogunmola reports that Osin Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, is a community that has experienced an age long problem of gully erosion and flooding as a result of its sloppy terrain.

Stating the background to the intervention of the Federal Government to check flooding and erosion menace in Osin Ekiti, the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha who was represented said that Governor Kayode Fayemi sought the assistance of the Federal Government on the problem during his first term in office.

Addressing the gathering before proceeding to cut the tape to launch the Ote Channelisation, Erosion Control and Access Roads in Osin Ekiti, Senator
Ajayi Boroffice who perform the ceremony on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari said that it’s the responsibility of the people of the community and its environs to own and maintain the project.

He therefore implored them to prevent indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drainage channels.

The Olosin of Osin Ekiti, Oba Eniayewu Oyediran expressed the appreciation of his people to the state and federal governments and pledged their support and cooperation at all times.

The Ote Channelisation, Erosion Control and Access Roads executed by the Ecological Fund Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, entailed the tarring of five roads with a total length of five kilometers and construction of culverts and drainages measuring eight kilometers.
