FG committed to eliminating quackery in mining sector

The Federal Government says it is committed to checkmating and eliminating quackery in the extractive Industry, a sector acclaimed to be Nigeria’s huge source of wealth.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, stated this at the 13th Induction ceremony of the Council of Nigeria Mining Engineers And Geoscientists, COMEG.

The 13th in the series of inductions and certificate presentation to qualified mining engineers, geoscientists and tertiary institutions.

The Council of Nigeria Mining Engineers and Geoscientists, COMEG, renewed its commitment to entrenching professionalism in the industry in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of the government of the day.

The Minister, Dele Alake, is excited about the renewed vigour of the Council to fall in line with the vision of the Bola Tinubu administration.

He charged graduands and successful institutions to upscale credibility, honesty and transparency as they discharge their tasks.

To underscore government’s zero tolerance to quackery, the Minister said mining engineers and geoscientists not certified by COMEG stand disqualified henceforth

The Highpoint of the event was the symbolic presentation of the COMEG Accreditation Certificate to the Vice Chancellor, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake.

The accreditation certificates for other successful tertiary institutions are expected to be handed over to their vice chancellors as COMEG promises to continue its drive to enhance professionalism in the industry.
